In the FY 2025 Governor’s Budget Report, the Governor is recommending adding some 79 Million to the budget to help get Direct Support professionals out of the financial straits they find themselves in today making on average less than $11 per hour (based off of https://www.burnshealthpolicy.com/GeorgiaWaiverRates/ ). This rate study suggested a need for this and more additional money just to get rates back competitive after our recent hyperinflation, workforce challenges, and more. This is a good step in the correct direction for all Georgians. Let continue to follow the budget and make sure this needed funding remains as it goes through committees, house and senate votes and is eventually signed off on by the governor.
